technology marches on

I had a bitch of a time uploading files for the new version of WordPress. It’s my first update since migrating from the Linux box to the Mac Mini, and the ftp client I have is crap compared to gftp which came with Gnome.

And I see I’ve (partly) broken my theme: it can’t display single posts. Until I get around to repairing/rewriting it, you get this generic theme.

the Danish matter

You may have noticed that I have not demonstrated solidarity with the Danish press by helping to publicize the “Mohammed” cartoons. That could be because I fear for my safety, or because I hate Western freedoms, or because the cartoons do not meet my usual standards, i.e. they’re not funny. You choose.

the wonderful thing about standards

is that there are so many to choose from!

Elsewhere in the wonderful world of webtoons, how to stand out from the crowd.

argh

And now I’m getting spammed by Frappr: DOWN CLOTHING from Chino (CA) would like to be your friend and join your Friend Map.

I only bloody joined Frappr because one of my groups wanted to get everyone on the map. See if I fall for that one again.

and then vampires come, and they start making these stupid little mini-pizzas

So there I was, getting into the swing of Wikipedia, doing my bit for (among others) numerous entries relating to Buffy. I noticed that the pages for Darla, Angel, Spike and Harmony repeated a bunch, so I created an entry on Joss Whedon’s vampires to collect it in one place. Six days later someone else came along and replaced it with a much longer article full of misspellings and clutter, retaining not one of my well-written sentences.

Harrumph.

I guess every contributor gets a similar shock sooner or later.
