Any French film buffs in the audience? I’m trying to remember the title of a movie in which one of the main characters brags of his « collection intégrale des Livres de Poche » (complete collection of Pocket Books). If memory serves, the plot concerns two friends (one of whom was played by Depardieu) trying to impress the same woman, but both too modern to be competitive about it.
2004 February: Possibly Préparez vos mouchoirs.
It is indeed Préparez vos mouchoirs (Get out your handkerchiefs), but I misremembered Stéphane’s line: « collection complète », not « intégrale ».
I also misremembered the plot somewhat. Solange is depressed and her husband Raoul (Depardieu) recruits a stranger, Stéphane, to sleep with her in the hope that a change will do her good.
And I misremembered who played Stéphane: I pictured him as the cuckold/percussionist in Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire — who, I now find, was played by Bernard Blier, who directed Mouchoirs!
