save my joints

For my sins I’m entering thousands of addresses into a LookOut contacts list, and find that each one takes a surprising number of mouse-clicks. It would go much easier if I could simply type them into a textfile and convert it somehow; is there a way to do that?

Will Outlook slurp in a textfile that looks like this?

    “potso@yahoo.com”,”Pom Potso”
    “info@ogre.nu”, “Ogre Nu”

    etc.

    (with perhaps occasional lines like

    “hrmf@slog.com”, “”

if for some reason one doesn’t know the user’s real name)

I run a mailing list with Mailinsta that outputs that sort of thing if you ask it to export its list. I used to have the list on Yahoo Groups and it too would output a similar kind of thing. Seems to be a standard comma-delimited format. You might want to test it.

Otherwise you may have to look up the format for LDIF files.

I’m told that it can’t be done because we’re using a custom input setup.
