the price of pot

Educated Guesswork relays graphs – purporting to be from the ONDCP, no less – showing that the retail prices of heroin, cocaïne and methamphetamine (as adjusted for purity as well as currency inflation) declined fairly steadily between 1981 and 2001, while THC (marijuana) peaked in 1991 and has since returned to near its 1981 price.

pain matters

I’m surprised to find that this blog has not previously mentioned the problem of undermedication for pain, a side-effect of the War On Minority Drugs. Here is a personal anecdote.

After seeing first-hand the lack of understanding and willingness to treat pain, I’m surprised the suicide rate of these sufferers is only [nine times] the national average.

in more innocent times

It seems to me that in the Seventies – before John Belushi died – there was talk of relegalizing or decriminalizing the “soft drugs” marijuana and cocaïne. Does anyone else remember that, or am I (ha ha) hallucinating?
