The SPLC/Klanwatch operation is not stupid. There is a calculated reason as to why it is declaring objectivists to be enemies of the state. Normally, the SPLC's job is to smear people as anti-Semites and/or racial bigots, and certainly Mr. Dees has been working overtime to mischaracterize the militia movement in this fashion. However, giving the neo-McCarthyite treatment to fans of Ayn Rand creates a serious ideological problem for the SPLC. Rand, a woman, came from a Jewish family and was an immigrant (from Bolshevik Russia no less). Rand wrote essays denouncing racism as the lowest form of collectivism, affirmed atheism, and expressed strong reservations against conservatism. Rand is about as far removed from good-ole boy Klan bigotry as one could be and still be politically-incorrect. How on earth is the SPLC going to credibly portray followers of Rand as neo-Nazis or angry white male christians? Only shameless lies could accomplish such a feat, and even shameless lies aren't likely to work in this case.

The branding of Randians as militia-fodder should be taken as an admission by the SPLC that its real target is not bigotry, but something else. Objectivism, founded by a female Semite and explicitly anti-racist, draws the ire of the SPLC because it is pro-individual liberty, pro-private property, and anti-authoritarian. The SPLC merely uses the façade of racial/religious/gender tolerance as a ruse to conceal its own communist agenda. Mr. Dees' secret urge to destroy the Bill of Rights and infest America with PC Thought Police is being frustrated by specter that is haunting the establishment- the specter of Ayn Rand.

While I have been critical of Ayn Rand at times and do not identify myself as an objectivist, I must say that it is a great tribute to her passionate commitment to liberty and private property that Mr. Dees has thought it expedient to fear the ability of a dead Jewess to recruit for the militia via novels and essays that were written more than thirty years ago. One can easily attack a bigoted work like The Turner Diaries as a “manual of hatred”, but what hope does Mr. Dees have against Atlas Shrugged? Rand's ideas are simply too powerful for snivelling egalitarian mediocrities like Dees to contemplate, let alone argue against. There is a terror growing in his heart and in the hearts of all socialists like him as they come to the realization that they must kill all objectivists or lock them up in concentration camps and burn all their books as soon as possible if they are to move forward with their collectivist visions. It is simply too dangerous to their totalitarian plans to allow the ideas of Rand to spread, yet Rand's books are in practically every bookstore in America and have been selling well for many decades. Here is an ideological crisis of the first magnitude!

I will name the real fear of the SPLC. It is not the fear that objectivists will become recruits to the militias, but rather that the militias will be recruited to a philosophy of reason and individualism. Objectivists, even those objectivists who have foolishly denounced the militias, really are enemies of the kind of state Mr. Dees wants to create, enemies both in spirit and in fact. The SPLC, in spite of itself, has stumbled onto the truth: America is not drifting towards a dreadful bloodbath because of race or religion or gender bias. America is about to tear itself apart because of the grasping ambition and avarice of its corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, and collectivist ideologues as they engage in a death struggle with those who cherish their freedom and enjoy the astounding miracle that is capitalism. There is a class of Americans who will never peacefully give up their guns, their property, or their right to speak freely. A book like Atlas Shrugged has the ability to elevate their understanding of the conflict beyond the level of constitutional traditionalism or NWO conspiracy theories, and instead focus them on a deeply philosophical understanding of their struggle for individual liberty. The ideological awakening of the militias will create a thirst for freedom and a refusal to surrender that will surely spell total defeat for the neo-Marxists and the rank opportunists who currently dominate America. One day, when the Golden Banner with a coiled rattlesnake and the motto “Don't Tread on Me” is proudly waving over every building in Washington D.C., historians will gratefully recall the name of the Russian Jew who helped make it possible.
